Asheville runner Adam Hill runs for the pure joy of the sport, which is partly why he has largely given up competitive races, although he regularly placed high when he did compete. However, his commitment to his local running community is never in question, as he regularly organizes running events throughout western North Carolina. Most famously, he established the 67-mile “Pitchell” run from Mount Pisgah to Mount Mitchell, which climbs 16,000 vertical feet along the way.
