Just call her the Waterkeeper. Since 1998, Donna Lisenby has worked to protect rivers and waterways in a variety of positions with the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation, Appalachian Voices, Tennessee Riverkeeper, Waterkeeper Alliance, Waterkeepers Carolina and the Western North Carolina Alliance. Throughout those positions, she has advocated for the protection, preservation and restoration of waterways in North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee. Specifically, she combats coal companies for their dangerous practices that pollute rivers throughout the region.
